Our happy chaos

It's a girl!!!

We welcomed Mia Aryn into our family at 9:55 am on Thursday, August 18th. She is the perfect addition to our family in every way. She shocked us by weighing in at only 7.7 lbs. and 19", normal to most people but it seemed so tiny to us compared to our Josie girl who started out at 9 lbs.

Josilyn seems to be adjusting as good as we could have expected - she loves her baby sister a ton, but you can tell she is also going through some changes as she tries to find her new place in our family of four. This has left me with an enormous amount of guilt. I know we will get through this stage, but I can't help but miss the bond Josilyn and I had pre baby Mia. I can't wait to get the recovery a-okay so that I can start picking up my monkey and doing some more of the "normal" things she is used to.

Our house itself has been anything but calm since bringing home Mia. You forget how many diapers, wipes, loads of laundry and feedings come from one tiny new person. Mia has been an angel though. She is a very mellow, chill, sleepy girl most of the time. Something that I am still getting used to. She seems to have no problem with me toting her all over the house as we chase after her big sister. Looking back at pictures these two girls look pretty identical, I am curious to see if that continues (although I am in no hurry for either one of my girls to grow up any faster).

So fun facts:
* Mia had her first smile and "dream giggle" at 4-days
* First stretch of 6-hr sleep at 1-week
* Josilyn loves to give Eskimo kisses to Mia
* Josilyn finds it completely hilarious every time Mia toots or has a poopy diaper
* Josilyn is really into playing doctor and school right now. She is super excited about starting school with some of her buddies soon, although I am not quite sure if she knows mommy and Mia won't be staying with her

Well that is all from our crazy chaotic life right now!!!

Lola Pippa or Breckin ... Only time will tell

39 weeks! Seriously. Where did the summer go? It seems like just a few weeks ago we started sharing our baby news with friends and family, now we are in the final stretch. Wow.

We've been talking a lot about our newest family member with Josilyn in hopes that she will be prepared for the changes that are headed her way. She seems to get it in the sense that she will wake up every morning and ask if the baby is coming out today or if she will be able to take the baby places. I just have such a feeling of anxiety and guilt about the whole process. I don't want her to feel like she is being replaced, but I hope that she will understand things will be different.

Ryan and I are still struggling with names. Ugh. Thankfully we have finally narrowed down our boy choices to two ... So odds are we are having a girl since we have yet to really come across any that we love. Crunch time, right!? Oddly no matter when we include Josilyn in our name discussions she always always suggests the same two names: Lola Pippa for a girl and Breckin for a boy. Although she is still completely against having a boy/brother. Just yesterday she was asking me if a brother was a boy or a girl. When I told her brothers are boys, she quickly responded with, "I don't think I want one of those then."

In other fun news, Josilyn is signed up for fall soccer!!! I can't believe my baby is already participating in team sports. Ryan and I both grew up playing soccer, so we are thrilled to get her in on the action. As a bonus a number of her little buddies are playing as well; they are going to be so cute running around in a cluster in their miniature uniforms. Better have my camera fully charged for the first day.

Josilyn and I also got to be models for a morning as we helped out a friend with her photography business. She wanted some practice with some new locations, shooting toddlers (other than her own) and preggo bellies. While I was hesitant at first, let's be honest very few preggo women feel like having their pic taken this close to the end, but I agreed knowing that I will appreciate having those pictures some day. We saw a quick sneak peak and I am super excited to see the rest! Can't wait for this baby to come so she can come capture some great newborn and big sister photos as well :)

Sweet nothings

Just a quick update as Josilyn's personality continues to shine through. Here are some of the sweetest (and funniest) things to come out of her mouth lately:

* after sleeping on the floor in her room for close to an hour (not easy at 36-wks preggo) trying to get her to fall back asleep, she sat up, looked at me and said "Mom, I really love you!"
* on a caride she randomly said, "I think I should move my seat there (by the window) and put the baby in the middle so I can hold its hand."
* out for a walk one night we passed by her friend Bella's house, who recently moved out. The new neighbor was in the garage so she rode right up to him and said, "What are YOU doing here?" ahh, only a toddler can get away with something like that :)

I am just in love with how smart and witty Josilyn continues to become! I love that we can have real conversations during the day. I even love that she had developed quite the sense of sarcasm, even if it drives me batty at the same time. She is strong willed and has quite the stubborn streak at night; again these are things I admire and despise at the same time.

I am so excited and incredibly nervous to see how we will all adapt to our new family member. Right now Josilyn seems to be pretty excited about becoming a big sister. She has already put a bunch of her old toys in a box that are now 'just for the baby'. She tells us how she wants to take the baby places, rock the baby, have the baby sleep with her in the mornings, and share her bathtub with the baby. The only thing she doesn't want is a BOY. I guess we will find out soon if that one will be an issue.
